- Box for Tinel’s sign: Tinel’s sign is positive in most entrapment neuropathies (for example, carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome). You elicit it by percussing (tapping) over the affected nerve. A positive test produces tingling and numbness in the distal distribution of that nerve.
