Finishing Tools

These tools prepare and refine a wooden surface after the main work is done, smoothing, shaping, or protecting materials for a clean final result.

Handheld finishers

Handheld finishers rely on manual effort and simple mechanical action to remove or refine material without a power source.

Four hand tools with wooden handles: a flat file with fine ridged teeth, a rasp with coarse raised bumps for rough shaping, a block plane with a rounded front knob and rear handle for shaving wood surfaces, and a flat-bladed wood chisel for cutting and carving.

Electric finishers

Electric finishers use a motor to speed up sanding and material removal compared to handheld tools.

Two power sanders side by side: a belt sander with a continuous abrasive loop around two rollers, and an orbital sander with a round perforated pad and a dust collection bag attached.
