What this prep section covers:
- Specific abilities tested in CARS
- What the passages and questions look like
- Strategies to use for each passage
- Sample passages and questions to apply chosen strategies
What does the CARS look like?
- 9 reading passages with Qs
- 4-7 Qs per set (passage)
- No stand-alone questions
That means that this section is entirely critical thinking plus reading skills, rather than having outside knowledge.
Students who score well in CARS:
- Utilize reading strategies
- Develop strong reasoning skills through careful practice
- Embrace the “best” answer concept (it might be a grudging “make up with your brother” kind of hug, but embrace away…)
What happens at the end of this section?
After learning the key strategies for CARS, you’ll move into a series of practice sets, each one built around a single passage with multiple questions. These are designed to be manageable and flexible, so you can go at your own pace. Work through one passage at a time or tackle several in a row, depending on what fits your study flow best.
