Congratulations on completing the Achievable MCAT Course! Completing this course is no small feat, and you should feel proud of all you’ve achieved. You’ve built a strong foundation in critical thinking, reading comprehension, basic psychology and sociology, biology, chemistry, and physics, all of which will serve you well both on the MCAT and in your future career.

Testing registration

  • The American Association of Medical College (AAMC) produces the MCAT. When you’re ready, be sure to register for the MCAT exam by visiting the MCAT Exam registration page.

  • If you haven’t done so already, you will create an account with the AAMC, choose a test date and location, and you have to have a valid ID that matches the information that you provide for your MCAT exam. The exam will be administered in person at a Pearson VUE testing location.

  • The exam is usually offered from January to September, excluding February. Keep this in mind when you are planning on when you expect to take your exam. You can take a look at the 2025 testing calendar to get a better understanding on testing dates, deadlines, and score releases.

Additional information

  • The standard registration cost for the MCAT is $345. The AAMC also provides a fee assistance program that could lower the cost of the exam to $140 if you are eligible.

  • The MCAT can be taken up to three times in a single testing year. In a two consecutive year period, the exam can be taken up to four times. Overall, the MCAT has a limit of 7 attempts in a lifetime.

  • You will have an on-screen calculator for use during the exam, as well as a wipe-off scratch sheet to work on as needed.

  • MCAT scores will automatically be released to all schools in the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) program. While this means that you do not have to take any additional steps for your scores to be received, this also means that you cannot withhold any scores from schools.

Tips

As you approach test day, we recommend the following to make sure you perform at the highest possible level:

  • Do your research.

It is important to do your own research and set your own personal goals for your MCAT score since your score will ultimately qualify or disqualify you for acceptance into a medical program. We recommend that you check with the medical schools that you are looking at attending to see what range of MCAT scores would qualify you for possible acceptance.

  • Identify and focus.

Identify and focus on your weak areas while maintaining strengths in subjects where you perform well. This is crucial for identifying problem areas early and building overall test-taking confidence.

  • Review your email confirmation.

Please give yourself plenty of time to review the important appointment details from your AAMC/MCAT email confirmation before exam day. It is also recommended to sign up for MCAT news and updates, which can be done through the AAMC registration page.

  • Bring your ID.

Remember to bring one valid, government-issued identification document with a signature and picture, such as an unexpired driver’s license, passport, or military ID. Also, ensure that your name on this ID is the exact same name under which your exam is scheduled.

  • Arrive early.

This ensures that you will get to your testing center on time.
