The Florida General Lines exam includes a shorter, more practical version of state health insurance regulation than the full Health agent exam.

That means you do not need the same level of detail you would need for a dedicated Health license.

But you do need to understand the major health insurance concepts that regularly appear on the General Lines exam, especially:

  • Common health policy provisions
  • Limited health policies
  • Major medical
  • Disability income
  • Medicare Supplement
  • HMOs and PPOs
  • Long-Term Care
  • Disclosure rules involving renewal, cancellation, and advertising

This section is tested because health insurance, even in abbreviated form, still depends heavily on contract wording, consumer protections, and clear disclosure.

As with the rest of Florida regulation, many exam questions come down to three big ideas:

  • What must be in the policy?
  • What type of policy is this?
  • What must be disclosed to the consumer?

Chapter Roadmap

This section covers two major areas:

  • General health
  • Disclosure
