Wrapping up
You’ve now completed the Achievable FA/FFA Course. At this point, you should have a solid grasp of core financial accounting principles and the technical skills behind double-entry bookkeeping, including how to prepare basic financial statements.
Exams mode, registration, and fees
The FA/FFA exam is delivered exclusively as a Computer Based Exam (CBE). It’s available on-demand, so you can schedule it at any time during the year. Your result is shown immediately after you finish, and it’s uploaded to your ACCA account within 72 hours.
You must take the exam at an authorized exam centre in one of 100+ countries. If there isn’t a centre in your country, you may be eligible to sit the exam remotely.
To find a centre, use Find an on-demand exam centre. Search for your country, then book an available date with a listed centre.
If no centre appears in your search results, use Exam availability and Booking. Select your country and register for a remote exam.
Before you can register for exams, you must register as an ACCA student to receive a student registration number. Use ACCA Application to complete your registration.
Registration fees vary by country. Check ACCA Fees and Charges and search for your country to confirm the applicable fee.
Fees for remote on-demand exams are listed in the related links. For exams taken at CBE centres, fees are set by the individual centres. If you’re taking the exam at a special centre, you may also need to pay additional local invigilation and accommodation fees.
CBE platform
Passing the exam depends heavily on speed and accuracy under timed conditions. A practical way to build that efficiency is to get comfortable with the CBE platform and practise with simulated exam questions.
Pass mark and other information
The FA/FFA is marked out of 100.
- 50 and above is a pass.
- Below 50% is a fail.
A very high score may identify you as a potential award winner for the course within your country.
The FA/FFA does not allow you to bring in a calculator. Instead, you’ll use the calculator built into the CBE platform. There are no formula sheets for the FA/FFA course.
Tips
As you approach test day, we recommend the following to make sure you perform at the highest possible level:
-
Do not study the day before the exam
Use this day to rest and reset. Do something you enjoy, but plan to be home by 6 p.m. and winding down by 9 p.m. Aim for a full eight hours of sleep so you’re rested and alert on exam day.
-
Wake up early on test day and get that heart pumping.
Try to wake up at least two hours before the test starts (or before you leave for the centre). Start your morning by raising your heart rate for 5-10 minutes. A quick jog, jumping jacks, or a similar exercise works well. Exercise releases endorphins and helps you shift into “work mode.”
-
Eat a protein-rich breakfast.
After exercise, shower and eat. A balanced breakfast includes protein, probiotics, and antioxidants. For example: eggs, yogurt, and blueberries.
-
Mentally prepare yourself.
After eating, spend 5-10 minutes reflecting and calming yourself. If prayer or another spiritual discipline is part of your routine, it can fit well here. Use this time to settle your thoughts and set a clear intention for the exam.
“I’m going to perform well in the exam”. Repeat that to yourself.
Once you feel settled, gather what you need and head to your testing area.
-
Arrive early.
Whether you’re testing at home or at an exam centre, plan to arrive 20 minutes early. This gives you time to get comfortable and avoid the stress of rushing.
-
Before the start of exams.
Say a prayer to God. If you have a similar belief, you can repeat this “Thank you God for helping me achieve a score of [insert the score] in this exam. In Jesus Name. Amen!” Maintain calmness, don’t be frightened, be still. Breathe in and breathe out heavily anytime you feel tense, to relieve yourself of it.
-
During the exams.
Stay focused and read questions carefully. Maintain calmness, don’t be frightened, be still. Breathe in and breathe out heavily anytime you feel tense, to relieve yourself of it.
-
After the exams.
Your mark may have been displayed for you. Say a prayer. “Thank you God for helping me achieve a score of [insert the score] in this exam. In Jesus Name. Amen!”
